Iron is an essential mineral for the human body. It has a vital role in development and growth of the human body. Iron’s primary component is Hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells whose function is for oxygen to be transported and delivered to various parts and organs of the human body. Moreover, Iron also serves a function in the immune system. It is a cofactor in various biochemical processes which is involved in metabolism for acquiring nutrients. It is worth emphasizing that several studies have mentioned its critical role in neurological development proving evidence that during pregnancy, efficient and enough iron is essential both in the mother and the baby. A condition caused by insufficient iron is called Iron deficiency anemia.

A Closer Look to Iron Deficiency Anemia

This condition is characterized by a lack of iron in the red blood cells and oxygen-carrying hemoglobin. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), anemia is a serious global threat affecting:

40%

Children aged 6–59 months

37%

Pregnant women

30%

Menstruating women aged 15–59 years

In 2019, anemia is estimated to have caused the loss of 50 million years of healthy life due to incapacity. It is stated that the largest cause of this includes dietary iron deficiency.

There are various causes of anemia that include nutrient deficiency or poor nutrient absorption, inflammations, infections, and gynecological and obstetric problems. The most prevalent nutritional deficiency that causes anemia is iron insufficiency, which is mostly brought on by insufficient dietary iron consumption.

Common Symptoms include:

Fatigue

Feeling lightheaded or dizzy

Chilly feet and hands

Feeling lightheaded or dizzy

Shortness of breath

At-risk groups include:

Pregnant women

Women who experiences heavy menstrual bleeding

Children

Immunocompromised individuals

Fortunately, Iron deficiency anemia can be corrected and prevented by giving an iron supplementation. One of which is Ferronyl Iron, a form of an iron supplement.

What is Ferronyl Iron?

Ferronyl Iron, a pharmaceutically graded form of Carbonyl Iron. This Carbonyl Iron is a finely grounded powder form of iron with chemical composition of around 97.8-99.8% iron. This improves how well it is absorbed in the body and is considered to be one of the safer forms of iron. Aside from carbonyliron, there are various forms of iron that can be used as supplements. However, why use carbonyl iron?

Carbonyl Iron has higher elemental iron of >98% apart from other iron forms such as ferrous fumarate and ferrous gluconate, which only has 33% and 12% respectively. Thus, Ferronyl Iron, a supplemental iron with almost pure iron source that has low levels of toxicity. It is manufactured by decomposing iron pentacarbonyl chemically which leads to its characteristically high purity of being small spheres with only carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen traces contributing to its high bioavailability nature.

Why Ferronyl Iron?

One of the side effects of taking iron supplementation is gastrointestinal irritations such as diarrhea. In using Ferronyl Iron, these side effects have been reduced by the slow-release mechanism in the stomach.

How does it work?

Ferronyl iron, a form of carbonyl iron where the elemental iron preparations are defined by the term carbonyl referring to the manufacturing process which utilizes a vaporized iron pentacarbonyl by controlled heating. This leads to deposition of uncharged elemental iron as submicroscopic crystals. These crystals then form microscopic spheres with a size of 5μm in diameter. This is why Ferronyl iron particles are claimed to contain >98% pure elemental iron.

Ferronyl iron is advantageous such that small doses can correct iron deficiency with its sufficient and higher elemental iron content than other forms of iron like ferrous salts. This is less prone to result in iron overload.

Once ingested in the stomach, using oxidation the carbonyl iron is converted in ferrous form. Since its solubilization requires an acidic environment and its smaller particle size is also considered an advantage.

Uses and Applications:

Can be used in correcting Iron Deficiency Anemia from dietary insufficiency or chronic blood loss.

A supplement for Pregnancy-related anemia, supporting increased iron demands for mother and fetus.

Blood loss occurrence due to Post-surgical recovery.

Children and adolescents with anemia.

Tips for Optimal Use:

It is recommended to take iron supplements along with Vitamin C or citrus juice for an enhanced absorption.

It is important to avoid taking iron supplements with caffeinated drinks as it can interfere with absorption.

Regular use upon physician’s recommendation is essential for consistent results of iron stores.

Follow up and monitor blood tests to see if there is an improvement.

Iron, as needed by the body for oxygen transport, metabolism, and neurological development among others proved to be a mineral that is vital for the human body to function. With iron deficiency, there are consequences that can be fatal especially for pregnant women, and children. But it can be corrected with iron supplementation. However, with iron supplementation there are concerns of toxicity and side-effects such as gastrointestinal irritations.

With Ferronyl Iron supplementation, in the chemical mechanism of powdered elemental iron these toxicities are reduced and side-effects are minimized. Ferronyl Iron proved to offer better absorption and higher elemental iron content thus needing only small amounts of dose compared to other forms of iron supplementation.

If there are signs and symptoms of Iron Deficiency Anemia, it is recommended to see your physicians for prevention and treatment. In treating Iron Deficiency Anemia, it is important to consult a physician for the right diagnosis and course of treatment.

Iron Deficiency Anemia is still considered to be a burden affecting millions of people in the whole world. Most especially in rural populations, deprived of education, and marginalized households. It is a problem that can be treated with supplements, and Ferronyl iron offers an improved supplement for humans with iron deficiency.

Ferronyl Iron isn’t a magic pill, but it’s an effective, safe, and well-tolerated option
when used under medical guidance.

When it is preventable, there should be no people suffering from it because health is our right and it must be accessible to all.
